Commuters stranded as Kabba-Omuo Ekiti road in Kogi becomes impassable [PHOTOS]

Commuters travelling from or to South-West region through the Kabba-Omuo Ekiti highway are stranded.

This followed the collapse of the Ikoyi section of the road within Iyara Local Government Area of Kogi State.

On Saturday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) advised travelers to use alternative route.

A statement by the Assistant Corps Marshal, Bisi Kazeem, Corps Public Education Officer told them to go through Kabba/Asaya/Ogidi/Ikare.

The spokesman said the Federal Ministry of Works is activating appropriate action to ameliorate the situation.

The corps appealed to members of the public to cooperate as officers try to manage the situation.

A number of interstate roads are still in poor conditions, resulting in gridlock and accidents.

Hoodlums and organised criminal gang also use the avenue to kidnap or dispossess people of their belongings.
