Business activities at Sabongida in Iware town of Ardo-Kola local government council of Taraba state, were on Thursday brought to a halt as irate youths were alleged to have killed the suspected killer of one Mathies Michael
The suspect, Yakubu Jacob, who was was said to have being behind the gruesome murder of Michael, was alleged to have been stabbed in his farm.
DAILY POST findings revealed that the suspect was hired by late Michael to help in clearing his farm but breached the contract agreement after being paid.
Rather than giving reasons he failed to clear the farm when confronted, the suspect, as gathered by DAILY POST, was said to have pulled out a knife and stabbed Mathias to death.
Piqued by the development, the villagers, majority of whom are youths, were said to have mobilized to the home of the suspect where he was not only beaten to death but also had his family house demolished.
Confirming the incident, the father of the victim, Micheal Adamu, said he was inside his house when he heard the voice of his late son screaming that his friend Yakubu had stabbed him.
The father, who claimed to be an inspector with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, said before they could rush his son to the hospital, he slumped and gave up the ghost.
Aligning his weight to that of Adamu, the ward head of the village, Hyginus Jonah, said it was a mob action which the police could not control.
When reached for more confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, said the report has not been brought to his desk but promised to get back to our correspondent as soon as the details get to him.
Some youths from the community who also confirmed the incident, described Yakubu’s actions against his friend (Mathias) ungodly.
According to the youths, Mathias has been a good friend of Yakubu and he has been assisting him financially.
Describing Mathias as an easy-going person who can not hurt a fly, his killing, they said, made the people of the village embark on a reprisal attack on his killer.
As at the time of filing this, palpable tension was said to have enveloped the community as the family members of Yakubu were said to have taken to their heels for fear of being wiped away by the angry youths.
