Kylian Mbappe has rejected an apology from his France teammate, Olivier Giroud, over remarks he made after their 3-0 win over Bulgaria on Tuesday.
This has led to tension in the camp of the world champions, as they seek success in Euro 2020.
Giroud came off the bench in the second half to score twice against the Bulgarians.
After the game, the Chelsea striker said: “‘Sometimes you make the runs and the ball is not arriving. Perhaps we could have found each other better, there it is.”
Mbappe was furious by his comments and even asked coach Didier Deschamps if he could call a press conference to give his side of the story, as he felt they were directed at him.
RMC Sport reports Deschamps rejected his request, but the issue appears to have deepened.
Giroud has clarified his comments and said his words “ran away with him” and that his comments were not directed at any one player.
That explanation has not been well received by Mbappe however who appears to still be harbouring his anger.
Deschamps even called a meeting with the pair in an effort to resolve the situation amid fears it could hamper their tournament ambitions.
